Emergency crews rushed to Hydepark Street, near the Clyde side, after the alarm was raised on Wednesday, January 22, at around 3.20pm.

It is understood that the building was meant to be torn down in a controlled demolition but suddenly collapsed.

Pictures captured by the Glasgow Times from the scene show a collapsed building with cars parked below it covered in debris.

Following the building collapse, Glasgow City Council shut Hydepark Street between Lancefield Quay/Anderston Quay and Elliot Street.

Now, on February 19, the local authority has revealed Hydepark Street has reopened to all traffic.

A SFRS spokesperson previously said: “We received a call at 3.20pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, to reports of a building collapse at Hydepark Street in Glasgow. 

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances on a precautionary basis. All persons have been accounted for and there are no reported casualties.”

A spokesperson for Glasgow City Council said: “Hydepark Street is now fully open to all traffic.”
