Is there anything more romantic than James Blunt serenading you with his biggest hits?
Valentine’s Day night in Glasgow brought thousands of the singer’s adoring fans to the Hydro to experience just that.
Blunt was in town celebrating 20 years since the release of his 14 million-selling 2004 debut album Back to Bedlam – and he performed it in its entirety.

Casually walking on stage with his guitar, he kicked off the third night of his tour with High.
You’re Beautiful followed with Blunt joking: “Well that’s the hit done, so it’s all downhill from here.”
Perhaps a bit modest from Blunt who then had the audience captivated as he beautifully delivered Wiseman and Goodbye My Lover.
He said: “Well hello Glasgow! How f***ing exciting to be back in this amazing city.
“We were here a year ago and we loved it.”
And Glasgow clearly loves the 50-year-old.

A complete showman who was born to entertain, he continued with his masterclass on how to make your arrival onto the music scene memorable as he performed the rest of the album’s tracks including So Long Jimmy and Billy.
This debut is still talked about today because the songs Blunt wrote decades ago sound as fresh as ever. They are timeless.
The star quickly then shifted from the debut to the hits as he launched into the ballad Carry You Home, taken from his second album All The Lost Souls, allowing the fans to provide a moment as they carried the chorus while he played his guitar.
It’s incredible to watch Blunt switch easily between instruments on stage from guitar to piano and even the ukulele, which was used to perform Postcards.
He even had the energy to run through the entire arena while performing a cover of Slade’s Coz I Luv You.
His voice is instantly recognisable with a tone like no other. He has heaps of personality and continually makes his audience laugh with little effort. And his energy for performing songs he has sung countless times never fades.
It’s for these reasons Glasgow always welcomes Blunt with open arms.

Monsters was a highlight for fans before he dimmed the lights for Same Mistake asking the audience to use their phone light instead – and the moment was just spectacular.
Finishing off with Bonfire Heart and 1973, he said: “What an amazing and lucky little f***er I am to be here with you.”
