Aaron Jordon Johnson passed away suddenly after taking part in the Glasgow Half Marathon on Sunday, February 2.

We reported how police were called to a report of a 24-year-old man taking unwell at Glasgow Green shortly after 11am.

The young lad, who is from Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, was then rushed to hospital where he tragically died a short time later.

Posting a notice of the runner’s death, WT Morrison Funeral Directors, which is based in Aaron’s hometown, said: “We regret to inform you of the passing of Aaron Jordon Johnston.

“February 2, 2025 (Suddenly after completing the Glasgow Half Marathon) late of Enniskillen Co.Fermanagh.”

The Glasgow Half Marathon took place on February 2 at Glasgow Green in the East End.

Officers have since revealed there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended following a report of a 24-year-old man having taken unwell at Glasgow Green around 11.15am on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

“The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
