Hamdan Alshamsi, 20, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape and child abduction.
The incident involved a 13-year-old girl, who knew the man, in Brighton on December 30. The girl is being supported by specially trained officers.

Alshamsi appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court today, January 28, for a plea and trial hearing. He did not enter a plea.
He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on June 23 for trial.
