It comes after we reported how Blacks, which specialises in outdoor clothing, footwear, and equipment, revealed it was shutting its shop on the street.

A sign on the store’s window revealing the gutting news said: “Closing down.

“All stock must go.”

It is currently unknown when the Blacks store on the street will shut its doors.

Announcing the news, JD Outdoor, who owns both Blacks and GO Outdoors, revealed all Blacks workers will be transferred to the brand-new GO store, ensuring no jobs are lost.

Lee Bagnall, CEO of JD Outdoors comments on the conversion: ”With the best outdoor brands, we are confident this conversion will offer a rewarding shopping experience for outdoor enthusiasts in Glasgow.

“The new GO Express stores will also allow Glasgow’s shoppers to benefit from our GO Outdoors loyalty programme, which makes lower prices available to members.

“While this may come as a surprise to some of our loyal Blacks customers in Glasgow, we are committed to continuing to provide the level of service and quality that our customers expect in the GO Express stores.”

GO Outdoors was founded in Sheffield in 1998. The brand now has over 80 stores across the country.
