Temple Hill Primary Academy in Dartford, part of The Golden Thread Alliance, was rated Good by Ofsted following an inspection on November 26.

The school, which was praised for being “friendly and inclusive”, and where pupils “value their education”, supports disabled students and those with special educational needs (SEND) from ages 3 to 11.

The report highlighted the academy’s high expectations for pupils’ learning, with a “carefully created” curriculum that “reflects the diversity of the school”.

Inspectors also commented on pupils having a “keen sense of the importance of equality” and “are interested and respectful about each other’s lives and beliefs”.

With one of the trust’s key pledges being Equality, the academy works to ensure a “sequenced” learning programme that addresses any gaps in pupils’ learning, particularly any that may have taken place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Early learning is promoted at the academy, with early years children encouraged by staff to use new words or to ask and answer questions to develop their confidence in speaking.

Phonics is also taught by staff in a bid to encourage early learning, with early years children encouraged to read early on in their educational journey.

The report also mentioned that pupils with SEND are “identified quickly”, with adaptations made to facilitate successful learning for pupils with SEND.

Attendance was also highlighted in the report, with a recorded “improving” attendance at the academy, with parents consulted to address any barriers that may impact pupils’ attendance.

The pupils also receive visits from professionals as well as trips to London to support their learning, and staff were reported to feel involved in any decision making.

Leon Dawson, Headteacher at Temple Hill Primary Academy, said: “It is an honour to lead this exceptional school and serve our incredible community of children, families and staff team.

“I could not be prouder of the intelligent hard work that happens every day throughout the school.

“It was a joy to share what we do with an Ofsted team who took a listen-first approach and I felt they really understood exactly why and how we deliver the best possible educational experience for our pupils.”

“Our children know they belong here and that they come to school to learn and to gain the best chance at success in life. The school team, and those who work to support us through our trust, deserve all the credit for the success clearly recognised in this glowing report.”
