Scottish Water announced that the junction at Gibson Street, Otago Street, and University Avenue will shut from 7pm until 6am on January 21.

This is to allow for essential overnight sewer survey work to be carried out.

The utility firm will be carrying out CCTV surveys accessing the pipes through manholes in the road at this junction and along University Avenue.

This requires a full closure of the junction overnight with temporary traffic lights on University Avenue.

A second phase will see the junction of Otago Street and Gibson Street closed with traffic running between Gibson Street and University Avenue under two-way traffic lights.

This work is expected to be completed by Thursday, January 23.

Both closures will be in place from 7pm to 6am the following day.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We expect – weather allowing – to be able to complete both phases by the morning of Thursday, January 23.

“We can only apologise for the late notice of these essential works and would like to thank road users and residents for their patience and understanding.”
