Gillingham have let two goalkeepers depart ahead of the weekend – with loan man Luca Ashby-Hammond heading back to Fulham.
Gillingham no longer require the services of the 23-year-old at the club as they have two fit senior keepers in Glenn Morris and Jake Turner.
The Gills have also decided to send 19-year-old goalkeeper Taite Holtam out on loan to Ashford United.
Ashby-Hammond joined the Gills on loan at the end of August after then no.1 keeper Turner picked up an injury.
Morris took the starting spot with Ashby-Hammond used as cover for the club’s league games. The loanee made three starts in the EFL Trophy group stage.
His only league appearances came off the bench when he took over from Morris in a home game against Accrington in mid-October following an injury to the veteran stopper.
Ashby-Hammond managed to make a penalty save in a Trophy match against Crystal Palace under-21s – denying new Gills signing Asher Agbinone.
He also got to play against his brother Taye when the Gills met Stevenage in the group stage of the competition.
Young keeper Holtam, meanwhile, has joined Danny Kedwell’s Isthmian South East side ahead of the weekend. He joins on loan until the end of the season.
It’s his second loan spell playing in the division having previously appeared for Phoenix Sports.
Kedwell’s side includes former Gills players Craig Stone, Barry Fuller and Dean Beckwith. They are away to Sevenoaks Town this Saturday.
