Daniel Howell, 33, and Phil Lester, 37, will spend Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19 at Brighton Dome performing their near sold-out comedy show.

The initial tour, which has already been across Europe, the US and Australia, sold out in the UK in one day, and extra dates had to be added to keep up with demand.

The pair met on YouTube in 2009 and have been making videos together ever since, moving from Manchester to London in 2012 to present for BBC Radio One.

Over the next several years their joint careers went from strength to strength, with highlights including hosting the BRIT awards and winning awards at the Sony Awards and the British Online Creator Awards.

In 2014, Howell and Lester started a joint gaming channel called DanAndPhilGAMES which at one point was the fastest growing YouTube channel on the platform.

After a four-year hiatus, they returned to the channel in October 2023, to the delight of their dedicated audience.

This is the third of their tours the duo has done together, and the first they have embarked on together since coming out in 2019.

Howell posted a video in June that year coming out as queer and gay, with Lester coming out as gay via a YouTube video two weeks later.

Given the pair’s popularity with the younger LGBTQ+ community (particularly Gen Z individuals who grew up on their videos) and Brighton’s thriving gay scene, Howell and Lester have expressed excitement at their return to the city.

They said: “Our show Terrible Influence is about looking back at the accidental big bang of social media (and our careers..) and trying to work out how messed up we and the world are.

“When we come to a place like Brighton, that’s always so accepting and joyful – particularly for the queer community – it gives us hope that everything’s gonna be alright! We can’t wait.”
