When Did the BAFTAs Start?

The BAFTAs began in 1947 and have been taking place for more than 75 years, according to the BAFTAs official website. The organization started off with 70 members, and now have more than 12,000. Those members vote for the winners in each category and they are experts and professionals in the film industry.
