The travel giant shared a picture of a mucky seat after someone put their work boots on it.

The customer was then told by on-board staff to remove them immediately, before they snapped a picture of the filthy seat.

They have called out the behaviour as “unfair” and warned other customers that this will not be tolerated.

ScotRail posted on X: “Please keep feet off the seats!

“Yes, someone really did think it was fine to put their dirty work boots on the seats on a service last week, before being told by the on-board crew to shift them!

“It’s not fair on other passengers and it’s not fair on our hard working cleaning teams.”

One X user responded by saying “There should be a fine to deter this!!” to which ScotRail replied by saying “Would be good if we were allowed to do that for sure!”

Other users asked if they could put their feet on the seats if they first removed their shoes, but ScotRail quickly replied with “of course not”.
