Clarkes of Sussex made the announcement today (January 12) on social media that it would be closing its store in Bond Street.

The team said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Clarkes of Sussex, Brighton.

“After 25 wonderful years of trading on Bond Street, our last day of business will be Saturday 8th of February 2025.

“Since opening our doors in November 2000 as Clarkes Stationers, we have grown from a small family-owned art shop into a vibrant community hub beloved by artists, creators and the wider Brighton community.

“This journey has been nothing short of incredible and we are profoundly grateful for the role our shop has played in the lives of so many.

“We want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our staff, both past and present, who have worked tirelessly to provide exceptional customer service.

“Their dedication, passion and commitment have been the backbone of everything we have achieved. Clarkes would not be the same without you.

“To our amazing customers, who have supported us through the years, thank you for your loyalty, friendship and trust.

“Whether you have been stopping by for supplies, advice or simply a chat, you have made Clarkes a special place. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve this wonderful community.

“While this chapter is comes to a close, the memories, connections, and creativity fostered within our store will remain with us forever. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

“Please do visit us at Clarkes of Sussex, Lewes where you can pick up all your art supplies and stationery.”
