The play area, located on Bairds Avenue, North Lanarkshire, was developed by the council’s Community Partnership Team in collaboration with residents and children from Viewpark Family Centre.

The project has transformed the space into an area for fun and recreation.

The area was officially opened just before Christmas by Logan from Viewpark Family Centre, whose design won the ‘Design-a-Sign’ competition that greets visitors at the entrance.

The park features a large multi-play unit, an accessible roundabout and trampoline, an inclusive seesaw, multiple swings, climbing nets, and a cable way.

New picnic benches and seating options have also been added.

(Image: North Lanarkshire Council) Geraldine Woods, communities convener, said: “We are absolutely delighted to see this new play area come to life.

“This project is a great example of the community coming together to create something that will be enjoyed by everyone for years to come.

“We’re delighted to offer a space where families can meet, children can play, and the wider community can benefit from a new resource.”

It was made possible through a funding grant of £99,578 from the Local Development Programme, managed by North Lanarkshire Council’s Community Partnership Team.
