The bank, which has committed over £1.5 billion in funding to agriculture, has appointed Justin Ellis as the senior director for England.

He is tasked with enhancing support for large estates and major agri-businesses.

Ellis, formerly the agricultural business manager for the south of England, will now manage the bank’s expanding client base.

His promotion underscores Virgin Money’s commitment to aiding the agricultural industry.

Oliver Maxey, Virgin Money’s head of agriculture for England, said: “Justin’s appointment as a senior director reinforces our commitment to providing support where the industry needs it most.”

Ellis, who grew up on the South Downs within a farming family, joined Virgin Money (previously Clydesdale Bank) in 2011.

He said: “Serving the agricultural sector I grew up in has always been a privilege, and this promotion gives more focus to work alongside those large or dynamic agri-businesses who lead from the front.”
