National Highways first reported the closure on the A282 southbound at 11.21pm yesterday (December 25).
The tanker fire close to the bridge shut the M25 clockwise between J31 in Aveley and J1A in Dartford, with the east tunnel also closed.
At the time, a National Highways spokesperson said: “The southbound QEII Bridge at Dartford Crossing is closed due to a tanker fire within close proximity of the QEII Bridge.
“Port of London have indicated the need of an exclusion zone due to the risk of explosion which includes the QEII Bridge.”
“Emergency services are on scene.”
Emergency services were at the scene and traffic was not able to return to normal until Boxing Day (December 26) at 2pm.
