At around 11.10pm on Sunday, December 8, a 36-year-old man was within a common close in the George Street area when another man approached him and nicked his phone.
The victim was then threatened before the other block made off from the area towards Canal Street and Main Road.
Now, cops have launched an urgent search to track down the culprit.
The suspect is described as being a white man, aged in his 20s or 30s, and of slim build.
He had brown hair and was wearing a dark green hoodie, jogging bottoms that were black and white at the thigh, trainers, and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Rob Young said: “Enquiries are continuing into this theft and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything around this time to come forward.
“If you have any CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist, or if you saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area, please contact police immediately.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 3666 of December 8, 2024.
“Alternatively, you can give your information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can remain anonymous.”
