After UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in early December 2024, his professional and personal lives became highly publicized topics. Brian was legally married to his wife, Paulette Thompson, when he died. Paulette reacted to her husband’s death in an interview with NBC News, revealing that Brian had received “some threats.”

“There had been some threats. Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage?” Paulette told the outlet. “I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”

When pressed for details, Paulette noted that she couldn’t “really give a thoughtful response right now,” adding, “I just found this out, and I’m trying to console my children.”

Brian and Paulette share two children together. According to multiple outlets, they have two sons.

Were Brian Thompson & His Wife Getting a Divorce?

Shortly after Brian was shot, the Wall Street Journal reported that he and his wife had been living in separate homes for years. Brian purchased a $1 million home in 2018 in Maple Grove, Minnesota, close to where Paulette and their sons were living, according to WSJ. 

However, it’s unclear if Brian and Paulette sought a divorce over the past several years. They were still legally married at the time of his death.

After becoming the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in early 2021, Brian’s net worth increased over time to nearly $43 million, according to WallMine, per Daily Beast.. He earned a yearly salary of about $10 million, Daily Mail reported.
