Residents in parts of the county have been warned that flooding is either likely or expected following forecasts for more than 50mm of rain in some areas.
Homes in Bognor, Bexhill and other parts of Sussex could be at risk with a weather warning from the Met Office expected to last until midday.
The disruption comes in the wake of chaos caused by Storm Bert at the weekend.
In Sussex, one flood warning has been issued for Emsworth on the West Sussex border.
Flooding is “expected” in the area according to the Environment agency.
In the early hours of the morning residents were told that another 10-15mm of rain was expected after 23mm of rain fell overnight.
Across the rest of the county, flood alerts were also issued in:
- Combe Haven, Bexhill
- Langney Haven, Bexhill and Eastbourne
- River Cuckmere, Seaford
- River Uck, Uckfield
- Upper Ouse, East Sussex
- River Adur East Branch, Burgess Hill
- River Adur West Branch, Dial Post
- Aldingbourne and Barnham Rifes, Bognor
- Western Rother, Midhurst and North West Sussex
On Tuesday afternoon the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain.
The warning has been in place since 10pm on Tuesday and lasts until 12pm today.
Flooding has already been reported in Oreham Common, near Henfield, and Barcombe.
The weather disruption is the latest in a string of poor forecasts after Storm Bert wreaked havoc with wind and snow across Sussex last weekend.
