Brighton’s historic seafront hotel, The Grand, has revealed that it is currently undergoing a refurbishment, bringing a “new wave of luxury” to one of the city’s most recognised landmarks.
The refurbishment promises to bring a new wave of luxury to the hotel (Image: The Grand) To date, the hotel has already completed the refurbishment of the majority of its bedrooms since work commenced in January 2024, with all 205 rooms, which stretch across seven floors, due to be completed in March 2025.
Working with award-winning interior designers Garuda Design, the newly designed rooms feature “luxurious” wallpaper, local artwork and handpicked books and accessories.
The makeover will also see a soft refurbishment of the hotel’s public areas, alongside the introduction of a state-of-the-art gym and spa.

The Grand Brighton was officially opened on July 21, 1864 to great fanfare and celebrated as the original ‘Palace By The Sea’.
Designed by the celebrated architect John Whichcord Jr., the hotel was revered as a feat of Victorian architectural brilliance, and boasted the very first lift outside of London – then referred to as ‘vertical omnibuses’.
In 2018 a multimillion pound restoration of The Grand Hotel was completed.
The Brighton landmark in Kings Road boasted a fresh face with 46 new sea-facing bedroom windows, restored balconies and newly decorated rooms. That refurb took a year to complete.
