Brighton manager Fabian Huerzeler, chief executive Paul Barber and legend-turned-coach Bobby Zamora took to the new Hove Beach Park courts to play a game earlier this week.

The match took place as the courts’ operators announced the opening date for the new courts at the beginning of December.

Fabian, Bobby and Paul took to the courts on Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the courts and playing a few games with former Liverpool-man Redknapp.

Speaking about the sport, Albion boss Huerzeler added: “I’m very happy to be at a club where there’s someone always wanting to play padel, like Paul Barber. It’s helpful to now have a padel court soon at the training ground.”

Barber added: ““It’s great for everyone, great for socialising and for coaches and staff to mix. We’re looking forward to having the courts [at the training ground] and getting in a few more games.”

The group, including padel coach Mark Weaver and Brighton and Hove City Councillor John Hewitt, posed for photos at the newly finished courts in Hove’s Beach Park.

A spokeswoman for court operator Game4Padel announced the courts would be opening on December 2.

The court operator added: “We are pleased to announce that the Hove Beach Park padel courts are nearly ready for opening, with Brighton & Hove City Council looking to hand the padel facilities over to Game4Padel imminently.

“We are working towards an official opening on December 2, and courts can now be booked via Game4Padel.com. We are looking forward to building a thriving padel and tennis community at Hove Beach Park.”
