According to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), using the Price Index of Private Rents (PIPR) which tracks the prices paid for new and existing tenancies, rent prices are on the rise across the whole of south east London.

According to data published in October 2024, showing the latest rental figures for September 2024, prices have risen over the last year since September 2023.

The highest rent increase seen in south east London was revealed to be Greenwich, where the rent was £1822, up 13.8 percent from the previous year’s value of £1601.

This was followed by Lewisham with £1690, up from £1553 in September 2023, a rise of 8.8 percent

In Bromley, rent prices have risen to £1565, up from £1445 in September 2023, showing a rise of 8.3 percent.

Southwark followed close behind with a rent value of £2274, up from £2101 in September 2023, marking a rise of 8.2 percent.

Finally, rent prices in Bexley rose to £1355, which was an increase from £1258 in September 2023, a rise of 7.7 percent.

Bexley:

  • £1079 for a one-bed property
  • £1345 for a two-bed property
  • £1647 for a three-bed property
  • £2162 for four or more beds
  • £2039 for a detached property
  • £1752 for a semi-detached property
  • £1577 for a terraced property
  • £1222 for a maisonette

Bromley:

  • £1209 for a one-bed property
  • £1523 for a two-bed property
  • £1849 for a three-bed property
  • £2759 for four or more beds
  • £2736 for a detached property
  • £2007 for a semi-detached property
  • £1779 for a terraced property
  • £1403 for a maisonette

Greenwich:

  • £1416 for a one-bed property
  • £1764 for a two-bed property
  • £2045 for a three-bed property
