The Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) will be hosting Jess Gillam as a performance of a Symphony of Sorrowful songs comes to Brighton Dome on Sunday at 2.45pm.
Henryk Górecki’s third symphony not only topped the classical charts but cracked the British pop charts in 1992, selling over a million copies and pushing the Polish composer into global fame.
Alpesh Chauhan will be the conductor and internationally acclaimed Ruby Hughes will be taking on the role of the soprano.

The BPO is marking its 100th anniversary with a season that will run until April next year.
Before the sorrowful symphony begins, star saxophonist Jess Gillam will perform a Glazunov’s dark-hued concerto, full of melodic twists and turns.
Jess from Cumbria, is the first saxophonist signed to Decca Classics, with both her albums reaching number one in the classical charts. She’s also the host of her own award-winning show, BBC Radio 3’s This Classical Life.
Children and teens can get tickets for £1 as long as they attend with an authorised adult.
