etch by Steven Edwards won the AA Notable Wine List Award and Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award within two days of each other.
It is the sixth consecutive year that the Hove restaurant has won the AA award and been named Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice.
From more than 1,000 entries only 298 venues were awarded the AA certificate in 2024. It follows restaurant manager Sam Weatherill ranking 31st in the Sommelier Edit Top 100 in June.

The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award puts etch in the top ten per cent of restaurants worldwide, based on Tripadvisor reviews.

Steven, who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013, said: “It’s been a great year for etch. I’m lucky to have a committed team that really care about what they do and I think this comes across well to our guests. Sam has done a fantastic job of choosing a diverse and exciting range of wines and continuing to put etch on the map when it comes to wine lists.”
The venue in Church Road is an award-winning restaurant that serves a five-course menu featuring the best local and British seasonal produce.
It will be taking part in Brighton’s OctoberBest, offering a five-course menu for £35 from October 12 to 27.
Last year, the restaurant was listed 35th in the Harden’s Guide and ranked in the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 for the sixth consecutive year.
