A petition to “take collective action” over concerns that Greene King may sell the Prince Frederick Public House in Sundridge Park has gained over 300 signatures.
The petition was started by a self-proclaimed neighbour of the pub, who described it as “a building of deep historical interest and community importance”.
This spot dates back as far as 1761, serving beer to generations of Bromley residents.
They said: “The Prince Frederick Public House has been a pillar of our community, providing a warm, inviting setting for us to gather, interact, and strengthen the bonds of our community.”
The petition goes onto claim that Greene King is selling the pub, which they said is “threatening the future of this incredible, local resource”.
Despite these claims, Greene King has told the News Shopper that no decisions regarding the Prince Frederick Public House’s future have been made yet.
They added that discussions are ongoing and Greene King is currently reviewing options for the Prince Frederick while keeping in mind the “best interests of the community”.
The neighbour who started the petition is calling for people to “come together as a community and protect this valued gathering place that speaks so much of our shared history and culture” and to “resist any sale that might result in a changed use of the premises”.
