The River Adur from Burgess Hill to Henfield rose after heavy rain on Monday night but began to fall on Tuesday evening.
Now, heavy showers are forecast for this afternoon and evening, so the Environment Agency (EA) has issued another flood alert for the area.

A spokesman for the EA said: “Some roads, including the A281 at Mock Bridge, may be affected, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding.
“We continue to monitor the levels and forecast.
“Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.”
The Met Office forecasts a cloudy and unsettled day for the South East of England, with outbreaks of showery rain soon developing through the morning.
This could develop into longer spells of persistent rain, which at times may be heavy, the forecaster said.
