Motorists travelling along the M2 have been warned to take extra care because of smoke billowing across the motorway.
A straw fire has broken out this evening in a field in Wrens Road in Bredgar, Sittingbourne.
People are being advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke which is clearly visible across the carriageway between Junctions 5 and 6.
One fire engine is in attendance and Kent Fire and Rescuer Service says its crews have been working to extinguish the blaze since 7.43pm.
Residents are being asked to share this information with any loved ones who may not have access to the internet.
