The audition for roles in “Legally Blonde” took place on Saturday, August 31, from 10am to 2pm at Orchard West Theatre.

The event aimed to find two dogs for specific roles: Bruiser, Elle Woods’ small sidekick, and Rufus, the large dog of Elle’s friend Paulette. Bruiser needed to be a small or toy breed, such as a Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, or Pomeranian, while Rufus was sought as a larger breed like a Labrador or Bulldog.

This award-winning musical, based on the popular film “Legally Blonde,” will be performed at Orchard West Theatre from Wednesday, October 9, to Saturday, October 20.

The story centers on Elle Woods, who, after being dumped by her boyfriend Warner for Harvard Law School, enrolls in the prestigious institution to win him back. At Harvard, Elle faces challenges from her peers, professors, and ex-boyfriend but ultimately finds her true potential with the support of new friends and her loyal dog.

Featuring music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, the production is set to deliver an energetic experience with memorable songs and lively dance routines.

Following concerns about RAAC concrete in The Orchard Theatre’s roof, which led to its closure in September 2023, Dartford Borough Council (DBC) and Trafalgar Theatres have set up a temporary venue, Orchard West, in Dartford. This new space, accommodating 1,000 people, offers comfortable seating, heating and cooling systems, comprehensive accessibility features, and full backstage and front-of-house facilities, including indoor toilets and bars.
