The RNLI has described the extensive search effort for a missing 4-year-old boy on Brighton beach as a “stark reminder” for parents to closely monitor their children.
Last Sunday, emergency services were alerted to Brighton beach after the boy was reported missing by worried family members.
At approximately 6:30 pm, Brighton’s RNLI inshore rescue boat, along with coastguards and local police, was deployed to the scene. Numerous emergency vehicles were seen on Madeira Drive during the search.
Fortunately, the child was located by police walking east and was safely reunited with his family.
Roger Cohen MBE, operations manager for Brighton RNLI, expressed relief that the situation ended positively but emphasized the importance of vigilant supervision: “This incident highlights how quickly children can become disoriented or wander off, underscoring the need for constant vigilance, especially on crowded beaches.”
