Gillingham has dismissed rumors of a loan move for a Premier League midfielder and denied making a bid for a forward.

Managing director Joe Comper took to X to clarify that both claims were false. This comes after reports suggested that Gillingham had made a bid for Barnet’s Idris Kanu and were targeting Newcastle midfielder Jamie Miley for a loan.

Comper refuted the claims, stating, “Fake news (at least on Gillingham’s part). Second fake story in two days from this account. No bid from us for Kanu at Barnet either. Just thought I’d clear that up to stop any unnecessary speculation.”

During his weekly press conference, Gillingham manager Mark Bonner commented on transfers, saying, “We’re always looking, but there’s no urgency right now. We know in a couple of weeks, we’ll have more options as players return to fitness. If there are additions that can improve the squad, then fine, but we’re not actively pursuing much at the moment.”
