The Parliament issued a statement announcing an investigation following reports suggesting a complaint regarding the SNP’s use of stamps. The reports claimed that these stamps, funded through MSPs’ expenses, were used to send SNP literature during the General Election campaign.

Texts from a group chat involving office managers for SNP MSPs discussing the stamp usage were reported by The Times and the Daily Record.

The SNP stated that it anticipates all MSPs’ offices to cooperate with the parliamentary investigation.

A Scottish Parliament spokesman stated, “We take the use of publicly-funded resources very seriously. Officials are looking into the matter to determine if there has been any misuse of parliamentary resources.”

A spokesperson for the SNP’s Holyrood group mentioned, “The parliamentary rules are clear that materials, including stamps, are only for parliamentary purposes such as representing constituents and campaigning on their behalf. These exchanges, though light-hearted, are under investigation as appropriate, and we expect cooperation from MSPs’ offices across all parties with the parliamentary corporate body.”
