Emma Raducanu, along with fellow Grand Slam champions Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Angelique Kerber, have been granted wild cards for the main draw at Wimbledon.
Raducanu returns to the All England Club for the first time in two years after undergoing wrist and ankle surgery. She made a notable comeback by reaching the semi-finals at the Rothesay Open in Nottingham last week.
Former world No. 1s Osaka and Wozniacki will also make their Wimbledon main draw returns after a five-year hiatus, both having become mothers during their absence. Additionally, former Wimbledon champion Kerber, and British players Francesca Jones, Heather Watson, and Yuriko Miyazaki, have received wild card entries.
On the men’s side, seven British players, including last year’s junior champion Henry Searle, have been awarded wild cards. Searle, 18, has shown significant progress in the senior circuit this season. Billy Harris, 29, will make his Grand Slam debut after a unique journey, which included traveling Europe in a converted van and winning his first ATP Tour match last year.
Jacob Fearnley earns his wild card for winning his first Challenger title in Nottingham last year. Other British players given wild cards include Liam Broady, who reached the third round last year, Arthur Fery, Paul Jubb, and Jan Choinski.
Dominic Thiem will need to go through qualifying to secure his final Wimbledon appearance, as he plans to retire at the end of the season due to wrist problems.
Junior stars Hannah Klugman, Mingge Xu, and Mika Stojsavljevic will compete in women’s singles qualifying, while 21-year-old Jack Pinnington Jones, who recently defeated Cameron Norrie in Nottingham, and 16-year-old Oliver Bonding have received wild cards for men’s qualifying.
