Sussex Police said its officers are assisting the power network and fire service with a powerline fault in Franklynn Road, Haywards Heath, near the Princess Royal Hospital.
It was reported shortly after midday today, police said.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A road closure is in place while the incident is being dealt with, which is expected to be several hours.”
A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 10am we were called to Lewes Road, Haywards Heath.
“Firefighters arrived and found power lines were arcing.”
The incident was then left in the hands of UK Power Networks.
It comes after power cuts were reported in Burgess Hill earlier today.
Power was restored to parts of the town around 12.10pm
On its website, UK Power Networks said: “We were investigating a high voltage overhead electricity line fault which caused a power cut in the local area.”
