Trainer Ricky Yiu’s Entry Sunlight Power Set for Sha Tin Action
Saturday’s Hoi Ha Handicap (1.05 pm) at Sha Tin promises to ignite debates among racing enthusiasts regarding top-weight Patch Of Theta’s ability to uphold last month’s performance against SUNLIGHT POWER, the runner-up.
During their previous clash over the same course and distance, Patch Of Theta from Francis Lui’s stable narrowly edged out SUNLIGHT POWER by a mere head. The latter faced challenges securing a clear path down the homestretch.
Francis Lui remains optimistic about further progress from his star performer, boasting three wins in the last four outings. However, the weight advantage now favors Sunlight Power by five pounds, including apprentice Jerry Chau’s two-pound allowance. With a smoother journey expected this time, Sunlight Power appears poised for redemption.
While the focus may seem on these two contenders, don’t overlook the potential of debutant Fantastic Fun, who impressed in recent trials against Ka Ying Rising. Also, keep an eye on Hyper Dragon Ball, a talented yet sometimes frustrating competitor who displayed promise in the last outing.
The day’s finale, the Kat O Handicap (2.15 pm) over a mile, presents a captivating puzzle with several contenders showing promise based on past performances.
Trainer Caspar Fownes pins hopes on Karma, known for excelling on softer ground, while Ching returns at a favorable rating after a previous winning run.
Beauty Live, coming off an encouraging display last week, is considered in top form by trainer Frankie Lor. Meanwhile, Simple Hedge is capable of better than recent form indicates.
Of notable interest is YOUNG ACHIEVER, a Group winner in Germany over a mile, now stepping up to an ideal distance. Trainer Jamie Richards’ intensive training regimen has seen the four-year-old shed weight and reach peak condition, making him one to watch closely.
