Craig Mallon, from Coatbridge, died after a single punch to the head when he was attacked outside a nightclub in the Lloret de Mar resort on May 19, 2012.

Over a decade has gone by without an arrest which has left his father Ian Mallon frustrated by the lack of progress, despite CCTV footage being unearthed of the incident.

In a video shared to the Facebook group the Craig Mallon Appeal, he said: “Do you or anyone you know have any information that can help our family get justice and answers?

“Can you imagine what it is like to lose a loved one in such terrible circumstances?

“Our family’s grief is aggravated by the fact that people out there have information about what happened.

“People have information that they might not think is relevant and there are people who know who killed Craig.

“My son’s killer is still out there living a normal life after 12 years.

“They may now have a family of their own.”

Craig was returning with friends from a night out on his brother’s stag weekend in the Costa Brava town when he was fatally struck outside Rockefellers Bar at around 6am.

A woman called the Spanish emergency services at 6.26am and described “a tall man” and others being involved in a fight.

Craig’s family say this woman has never been spoken to, and they are making appeals for anyone with information about the call to get in touch.

Ian’s employers Laing O’Rourke hired former detective superintendent David Swindle, who helped snare serial killer Peter Tobin, to look into the case.

Ian previously told us how the trauma has had a devastating impact on his own health, and that Craig’s mum Antoinette never saw justice for her son as she passed away in 2018.

He said: “I’ve suffered two heart attacks, a stroke and had to undergo spinal surgery that left me in a wheelchair for 20 months. Not having any closure is robbing me of my health – it is killing me.

“It’s been 10 years since Craig was murdered and I still don’t have any justice.

“Every anniversary I go to his grave but I can’t grieve like a normal dad because I’ve been left in limbo.

“I’ve had no answers and no one is behind bars for his death. It’s devastating and I’m not sure how much more I can take. It’s broken me in so many ways and you simply never get over losing a child – no parent should have to go through this.”
