This June, Bromley is set to host a calendar of events in partnership with the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) as it marks its 20th anniversary.
This year’s buzzword “reimagine” will bring together a range of events from guided tours, workshops, poetry hearings and talks to celebrate Bromley’s heritage and ongoing conservation work.

The festival spans the entire month of June and will highlight five key areas in Bromley including Bromley Town Centre, Chislehurst, Orpington, Penge and Biggin Hill.
One of this year’s highlights is a tour of Crystal Palace’s historic subway dating back to 1865, where guests will get a chance to see the restoration works being done to this Grade II* listed structure.
There will also be a guided tour of the historic Chislehurst High Street delivered by local guides, where visitors will learn about the changes in architecture over the years.
Bromley’s newly restored Beckenham Bandstand will also be featured in the line-up, with visitors able to have a special look at this Grade II listed structure where music icon and local legend David Bowie performed.

Children can also get involved with a series of child-focused events, including a Lego activity where children can explore how they would develop Biggin Hill.
Talks will also turn towards Bromley’s future at this year’s festival, with discussions on the future of Bromley’s Town Centre along with its parks, and the ongoing work to develop them whilst retaining local history.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “Bromley’s history is on display across the borough this June, with this being our largest involvement to date. Community groups have supported us in bringing this extraordinary programme of events together, with thanks to all and particularly our key destination partners and Business Improvement Districts.
“There is something for everyone, including tours of spectacular buildings and spaces across the borough. I encourage residents to seize these exciting opportunities and enjoy the festivities.”
