Multiple tents were set up in the centre of the university campus this afternoon as other protesters surrounded the camp waving flags and holding placards.

Protesters said in a statement that they were demanding the university discloses details of its investments and called on the institution to divest from companies linked to Israel.

The campers also called for investment to support Palestinian students, protect their right on campus for freedom of expression and to fly the Palestinian flag over Sussex House.

The protest follows a similar encampment by the side of Lewes Road which protested against the L3Harris arms factory in Moulsecoomb. That camp packed up a fortnight ago.

The University of Sussex was approached for comment.
