Police carried out searches of an address in connection with a Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) investigation.

He was arrested on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications contrary to section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Some neighbours told KentOnline that there was a “full on” police presence in the street all day with reports of riot teams from 7.45am until the early afternoon.

The suspect has since been released on bail.

Since 2009, CTPSE has been responsible for co-ordinating the regional counter terrorist response and providing specialist support to police forces in Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and the Thames Valley.

In line with the Home Office counter terrorism strategy, the unit helps ensure police are better equipped to prevent and respond to terrorist incidents and investigate and prosecute those involved.

Responsibility for the policing unit rests with Thames Valley Police.
