Orpington, Kent – A dedicated group of hikers from Kent, known as the Real Ramblers, recently completed the challenging trek to the Everest Base Camp, achieving not only a physical feat but also making a significant impact in the lives of others.

Who are the Real Ramblers?

The Real Ramblers are a passionate group of hikers committed to staying active and making a positive difference in society. Engaged in various activities like hiking, trekking, running, cycling, yoga, badminton,  tennis, etc. the group has previously raised funds for notable charities such as Cancer Research, DEC, British Heart Foundation, and many more.

Led by Team Captain Nageswara Rao Medarametla of the group comprises professionals from diverse fields including Doctors, IT and digital professionals, and business and sales professionals. The team members include  Vamsi Krushna Gaddam, Praveen Matam, Siddharth Gautam, Amit Prakash, Sandeep Jinkala, Sreenivas Nookala, Vamsi Gottipati, Dr. Gopi Krishna Reddy, Dr. Anusha Reddy, and Sitansu Sahoo. Hailing from towns like Orpington, Pettswood, Watford, and Hyderabad, India, the team members share a common goal of giving back to the community.

The Ultimate Challenge: Everest Base Camp

The Real Ramblers embarked on their most ambitious journey yet – the mission to Everest Base Camp. Despite the short preparation, the team’s spirit remained undeterred. Under Nagesh’s inspiring leadership, the group trained rigorously, undertaking challenging treks to Mount Teide in Tenerife, Mount Snowdonia, Peak District, Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Surrey 5 Peaks and more.

The historic trek to Everest Base Camp commenced on 22nd March, with the team reaching their destination on Easter Friday, 29th March. Completing the trek on 1st April, the Real Ramblers not only achieved a lifetime accomplishment but also demonstrated their unwavering dedication to philanthropy.

Making a Difference: Fundraising for Charity

Staying true to their motto, the Real Ramblers decided to raise funds for three incredible charities – British Heart Foundation, Nepal Youth Foundation UK, and Desire Society India. To date, they have raised an impressive £6,892 for British Heart Foundation and Nepal Youth Foundation UK, and £1,940 for Desire Society India. Additionally, contributions from one of their employers are expected to match these donations soon.

A Journey to Remember

The trek to Everest Base Camp was nothing short of incredible for the Real Ramblers. From the majestic mountains and pristine landscapes to the warm hospitality of the Nepalese people, the journey left an indelible mark on their hearts. It will forever remain a cherished memory and a testament to their adventurous spirit and commitment to making a difference.
