The number of carriages will increase from six to eight on specific morning and evening services, starting on June 2.

The services that will see additional carriages are the 6.35am and 8.35am trains from Swanley to Victoria, the 9.46am service from Swanley to Charing Cross, and the 5.25pm train from Victoria to Otford that arrives at Swanley at 5.51pm.

Additionally, there will be more trains during the evening rush hour from Charing Cross to Swanley and Otford starting from June 3.

The changes were announced by Laura Trott, MP for Sevenoaks and Swanley, in a recent Facebook post.

Laura Trott said: “I am keen this increased number of carriages is expanded to other services also, but this is a start, and I will keep pushing.

“I am also pleased to confirm that from June the off-peak trains from Sevenoaks will now be more evenly spread out – something passengers and I have been calling for.”

It comes as Swanley commuters are also set to get two extra fast trains during the evening rush hour from June 3, leaving Charing Cross at 4.59pm and 5.59pm.

These additional trains – part of wider Southeastern timetable changes – will stop at Waterloo East and London Bridge, before travelling fast to Swanley.

This will give commuters a half-hourly service from Charing Cross to Swanley from 4.29pm until 6.29pm.

Laura Trott said she will continue to campaign for increased capacity for Swanley services.

The MP said on Facebook: “I want to ensure that going forward there will be more capacity on the rush hour trains.

“It is great the line is so popular, but occasions of overcrowding at peak times needs to be dealt with.

“Whether for work or pleasure, our train services are immensely important to thousands of households in my constituency, and these improvements are to be welcomed and I will always seek more where possible.”
