Gravesend, April 22 – A significant fire has led to the closure of Valley Drive in Gravesend early this morning. The blaze engulfed a derelict building near Valley Drive, prompting a response from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS).

At around 3:17 am, crews from KFRS were alerted to the fire and dispatched four fire engines to the scene. As of the latest update, four fire engines remain at the location, working to extinguish the flames.

Residents and workers in the vicinity are advised by KFRS to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke emanating from the fire. However, recent reports suggest that the smoke levels have decreased, allowing Valley Drive to reopen to traffic in both directions.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident so far. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire, and enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding this suspicious incident.

A KFRS spokesperson stated, “Crews have made good progress in extinguishing the fire at the derelict property in Valley Drive. No injuries have been reported, and the cause is being treated as suspicious.”

Kent Police provided further details, saying, “The fire is being treated as suspicious, and enquiries are underway into the circumstances.”

For those in the affected area without internet access, the fire service has requested that this information be shared to ensure everyone remains informed.
