The temporary cameras will enforce a 40mph speed limit on the motorway between junctions 13 and 14.
We reported that Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland was carrying out essential resurfacing on the M8 eastbound, which includes the M80 off-slip road at junction 1.
The work began on Monday, February 12 and is expected to continue over the coming months.
During this time, the TemporaryĀ Average Speed Cameras at Roadworks (TASCAR) systems will be enforcing temporary speed limits for the safety of road users and workers.
Most of the work is done overnight when there is less traffic, and this isĀ when speeding offences are found to occur at their highest.Ā
TASCAR systems are shown to controlĀ speeds over a greater distance in areas of roadworks, reducing heavy braking and acceleration thusĀ improving road safety.
This scheme will benefit around 32,000 road users each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
