Emergency teams raced to Bankhouse Dental Care in Airdrie on Wednesday morning following the shocking incident.

A 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries. 

The dental practice confirmed that they then closed for the day and those who witnessed the incident are receiving support.

A spokesperson for the practice said: “Bankhouse Dental Care at Airdrie in North Lanarkshire can confirm that a person has been treated and discharged from hospital following a stabbing incident outside the East High Street practice early this morning.

“Those working or attending the practice who witnessed the attack are receiving support. The practice has taken the decision to close for the rest of the day.

“No further details are available while police enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.”

The force revealed that they think this to be a targeted incident and an investigation has been launched. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating a serious assault incident which took place in the car park of a premises on East High Street, Airdrie, at around 8.40am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

“A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. Officers are treating this as a targeted attack and enquiries remain ongoing.”
