The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has used the results of a national survey which asked people to rate their level of happiness during the 12 months up to March 2023.

People were asked to rate their life satisfaction, happiness, and anxiety levels out of 10.

Below are the mean ratings of how happy people are in each south east London borough.

Greenwich – 7.48

Lewisham – 7.48

Bexley – 7.29

Bromley – 7.33

Southwark – 7.23

Southwark was found to be the least happy, with a means score of 7.23.

In the last survey, conducted between April 2021 and March 2022, Lewisham was found to have a means score of 7.50, making it the happiest borough, while Greenwich came out as the least happy, with a means score of 7.24.

Lewisham and Greenwich may be considered the most desirable places to live for several reasons.

Lewisham offers excellent transport links, vibrant shopping options, and a growing food and drink scene.

The area is known for its abundance of green spaces and proximity to the historic attractions of Greenwich.

Greenwich offers a range of exciting attractions and activities for visitors to enjoy.

Some of the top things to do in Greenwich include visiting the Painted Hall, exploring the Queen’s House, and strolling through Greenwich Market.

Others include the Cutty Sark, the Maritime Museum, and the Royal Observatory.

With ongoing improvements, Lewisham and Greenwich are attractive places to live for those seeking a dynamic and diverse community.
