Road closures and full route map for Brighton Half Marathon - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates


The 34th iteration of the race will take place on Sunday with a mixture of elite athletes and fun runners taking to the streets.

The race will wind its way past some of the cities landmarks with friends and family cheering runners on from the sidelines.

When is the Brighton Half Marathon?

Brighton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, February 25, with the first races beginning early in the morning.

A youth race will kick of the event with young runners starting at 9am. The main race will then begin at 9.30am.

Road closures across Brighton will start at 7am to block off the route from drivers.

What is the half marathon route?

This year the half marathon will start and finish at Madeira Drive.

The route will begin by heading towards Brighton Marina before winding back towards the city centre.

Runners will then turn and run towards The Level before turning and heading back past the Royal Pavilion.

The race will then head along the seafront past the DoubleTree Hilton Metropole and the Brighton i360.

Runners will turn at Hove Lagoon before running back along Brighton and Hove seafront and back to Madeira Drive.

What roads will be closed?

Madeira Drive will be closed for the entire day with the run taking over the seafront for the start and finish straight.

Other closures will begin at 7am and finish around 2pm.

The full road closures are:

  • Marlborough Place, Grand Parade, Pavilion Parade, Richmond Terrace, Marine Parade and Marine Dive (Lower Rock Gardens to Roedean Way) – from 8am to 12.15pm.
  • Kings Road and the Brighton Palace Pier Area from West Street to Lower Rock Gardens to Edward Street – from 7am to 2pm.
  • Kings Road and Grand Avenue to West Street and Kingsway Wharf Road to Grand Avenue (Westbound only) – from 8am to 2pm.

Brighton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, February 25.
