People living in the Aldwick Bay estate in Bognor put sandbags across driveways in an effort to hold back floodwater after rain fell on already saturated ground across the county yesterday.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the entire county as southern England was battered by strong winds and downpours.

Flood teams donned Wellington boots as they worked to try and pump away the floodwater from people’s homes.

Flooding has also been reported along part of the A29 near Bognor, with motorists urged to be cautious when travelling along the road.

A number of flood warnings remain in place across Sussex, including for Aldingbourne and Barnham Rifes near Bognor.

Scattered showers are forecast across parts of the county throughout the day, with more heavy rain forecast on Sunday.
