Met Office warns of up to 70mph gusts on Sussex coast - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind for the entire county from 8am until 6pm tomorrow (February 22).

The national weather service has warned of the prospect of travel disruption, damage to buildings and power cuts in some areas.

The warning also covers most of the South East, parts of London and the eastern coast of England.

A Met Office spokesman said: “A band of heavy, squally rain is expected to move eastwards across England on Thursday with gusts of around 50mph in a few places very briefly, as well as some hail and thunder.

“However, there is a small chance of a broader swathe of very strong winds affecting southern and eastern England with gusts of 60 to 70mph, most likely close to the English Channel and southern North Sea coasts.”

The Met Office has urged people to secure garden furniture and other loose items outside homes and to stay safe when close to the seafront.
