Data has revealed the city is the third most expensive place to park in the country – with the average cost for two hours of parking setting motorists back by almost £5.

But some spots are going for free on the outskirts of the city, with Brighton and Hove City Council hoping people use these spaces and use the bus to travel into the centre.

RCP’s North Road location will set back motorists some £12 for two hours of parking, meaning the full 165-space car park will earn RCP £1,980 every two hours – or £47,520 in a day.

The city ranks third in the UK for expensive parking, behind only London and Manchester, according to data from parking database Parkopedia.

A map made by The Argus reveals the city’s most expensive and cheapest spots, with North Road coming out on top.

Drivers can park for free for two hours at Woodingdean Community Centre, Brighton Marina and Withdean.

The cheapest pay and display car park – with only 50 spaces – is at the Sussex County Cricket Ground in Hove charging £2 per hour.
