Dartford Primary Academy said in a Facebook post this morning: “Unfortunately, the infant site, St Albans Road has Heating failure so will be CLOSED until 12.00pm.”
They have also stated that “due to traffic issues the emergency engineers are still on their way” and have apologised for the inconvenience caused, advising parents to check for updates via Class Dojo, Facebook and MCAS before dropping children at the site.
In an earlier update, the school had said that they hoped to open at 10am, but this was not possible with the emergency engineers still on their way.
This follows a yellow weather warning for ice issued by the Met Office from 10am this morning.
Southern England, including Kent, can expect icy patches on untreated roads and pavements by Monday afternoon.
Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible, with snow showers also likely, and 1-2cm potentially settling on high ground.
The warning remains in effect until dawn on Tuesday, January 9, when conditions will likely improve with surfaces drying out.
