Man taken to hospital following 'water rescue' near Glasgow - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates



The incident occurred at 4.45pm on Thursday, January 25 at a canal in the Townhead area of Kirkintilloch. 

Cops as well as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service were present at the scene after the alarm was raised for concern for a person in the canal. 

The force confirmed that a man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a precaution. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of concern for a person in the canal at Kirkintilloch around 4.45pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024. A man was traced and he was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a precaution.”

SFRS revealed that they dispatched two fire trucks to the scene, where firefighters assisted with a water rescue

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to assist emergency service partners at 4.46pm on Thursday, January 25 at Townhead, Kirkintilloch.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist resources to the area, where firefighters assisted with a water rescue.

“One casualty was received into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. “Crews left the scene at 5.16pm.” 

The Scottish Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.
