Parents took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to ask the council if schools will be open.

One person wrote: “Will you please update us ASAP about whether schools are open today or not?”

Another said: “Are the schools opening today or are the shut due to weather warning?”

Glasgow City Council has now confirmed all schools are open as normal unless stated otherwise.

A spokesperson for the council wrote on X: “We had lot of messages last night asking if schools are open today due to the high winds.

“All our schools are open as normal unless we tell you otherwise.”

It is understood Carmunnock Primary School is the only school that will be closed due to storm damage to the roof.

Families of those attending the school have been contacted directly.
